BOOK REVIEW: The Kane Chronicles, #2: The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan

Ever since the gods of Ancient Egypt were unleashed in the modern world, Carter Kane and his sister Sadie, have some powers at their command; but the devious gods haven’t given them the time to master their skills at Brooklyn House, a training ground for young magicians. And now their most threatening enemy yet–the Chaos snake, Apophis–is rising. If they don’t prevent him from breaking free in a few days’ time, the world will end. In other words, it’s a typical week for the Kane family.
To have any chance of battling the forces of Chaos, the Kanes must revive the sun god, Ra. But that would be a feat more difficult than any magician has ever accomplished. First they have to search the world for the three sections of the Book of Ra, then they have to learn how to chant its spells. Oh–and did we mention that no one knows where Ra is, exactly?
Narrated by two different wisecracking voices, featuring a large cast of new and unforgettable characters; and with adventures spanning the globe, the second installment of the Kane Chronicles is nothing short of a thrill ride.

I’m trying so hard to not to be biased since Rick Riordan is my favorite author… Okay. This book was just amazing!! I really liked the humor in this book. I laughed out loud many times! I didn’t think I would get so attached to this series, but I was way wrong. Needless to say, there are not many cons. The writing style is great! The narrators are two teenagers and they actually seem like teenagers. And the references to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, brilliant Mr. Riordan  I would appreciate a Kane Chronicles/Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus crossover! Anubis, even though he’s my favorite character, seems a bit unimportant and only comes in when it’s convenient  I hope he has a more important role than just the go-to god for help. And oh how Rick adores to kill his readers with love triangles. The whole Walt/Sadie/Anubis thing is insane! But this book is great! There were loads of twists and turns that I did not see coming!

 Writing style
Not a severe cliff hanger conclusion
 Detailed but not too repetitive

none ~
