Clary Fray just wishes that her life will just go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like warewolves, vampires, and faerie’s? Clary would love to spend more time with her best friend, Simon. But the Shadowhunters won’t let her go– especially her handsome, infuriating newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil– and also her father. When the second of the Mortal Instruments is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor suspects Jace, Could Jace really be willing to betray everything he believes in to help his father?

BE PREPARED FOR SPOILERS AHEAD
I kind of put off this book for a while because my grades had slipped a bit, but I finished it a few days ago sooo let’s get to it. ~
Oh gosh. The feels. Simonnnnnnn. Oh Simon. I almost cried when you were exposed to the sunlight, I thought you would die. Thankfully, you didn’t. Ohhh, this book had so many exciting action scenes. And some of the most scariest things I’ve ever read. Agramon, the demon of fear, makes Jace sound immensely powerful. Think about it, Agramon killed the Silent Brothers, but even without Clary’s fearless rune, Jace was still alive after he first met it. That is crazy. I really like Jace and Clary’s powers. They’re pretty cool. Jace can like enhanced agility and balance and all that good stuff, and Clary can draw runes which can come in handy like in this book when she drew the fearless rune on Jace . Now, the Inquisitor. You. Imogen Herondale. Are the most ignorant person. I am glad you died, sorry not sorry. But at least you died protecting Jace, so thats cool. But still, you’re gone. Yay. I can’t believe she actually thought that Valentine would trade anything for Jace, especially the Mortal Instruments. Still mourning your son’s death. Don’t take it out on Jace. And Valentine you scheming little… ugh. I hate you. Maia. I don’t see how you’re important other than being a distraction and getting everyone killed. Cassandra put you in the story for a reason, so i still have a little hope left for you. The ending was just amazing and unbelievable. Jocelyn put herself in the coma. Now you got Clary going to Idris for the first time. I can’t wait. I’m actually reading City of Glass right now and it’s so gooood so far. Ooh. And when Maryse was all like “I make the orders now” i was like ooooooh yeaaah! I like all of the Lightwoods. They’re just amazing.
✔ Action scenes
✔ Interesting plot twists
✔ You got to see how the Downworlders are like
It’s just something about sequels that are just so much worse than the first book.
