Emily Webb is a geek. And she’s happy that way. Content hiding under hoodies and curling up to watch old horror flicks, she’s never been the kind of girl who sneaks out for midnight parties. And she’s definitely not the kind of girl who starts fights or flirts with other girls’ boyfriends. Until one night Emily finds herself doing exactly that . . . the same night one of her classmates—also named Emily—is found mysteriously murdered.
The thing is, Emily doesn’t know why she’s doing any of this. By day, she’s the same old boring Emily, but by night, she turns into a thrill seeker. With every nightfall, Emily gets wilder until it’s no longer just her personality that changes. Her body can do things it never could before: Emily is now strong, fast, and utterly fearless. And soon Emily realizes that she’s not just coming out of her shell . . . there’s something much bigger going on. Is she bewitched by the soul of the other, murdered Emily? Or is Emily Webb becoming something else entirely—something not human?
As Emily hunts for answers, she finds out that she’s not the only one this is happening to—some of her classmates are changing as well. Who is turning these teens into monsters—and how many people will they kill to get what they want?
** (mostly) SPOILER FREE **
This is such a great book! Usually sci-fi doesn’t appeal to me but this is amazing.
This book reminds me of Maximum Ride, but better.
The main character, Emily Webb, is such a relate-able character for me. She’s like a nerd by day, diva by night; so totally me.
So at first I expected it to be about just werewolves but it seems like it’s so much more than that.
I really like Emily W.’s character, in the beginning I felt like Emily C. and her death was a little random, it still kind of is but at the same time necessary. Nighttime Emily, in my opinion, is so headstrong, confident, so.. KICK ASS! She’s fearless, yet reckless.
I also felt like Megan, Emily W.’s best friend was a little unnecessary and pointless. She was moody and angry all the time and just so bitter towards everything and everyone and she didn’t serve any real purpose besides giving Emily W. a bunch of crap about “acting like a different person”.
I like how there was little parts that are a dark gray shade of paper and it’s like a transcript of a police interrogation. I thought it was unique and interesting. I also liked how Emily talks and how she thinks, she is so sassy. I literally laughed out loud in public when I read this book and people looked at me weird but I don’t care, It was honestly hilarious!
I recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick, funny, easy read.
*SPOILER* you have been warned…
I really thought the part where Emily found out that Spencer was the other wolf and they were cuddled on the ground, even though they just ripped trench coat guy’s throat out with their teeth.
