St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger…
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
**THERE ARE SPOILERS**
First things first I’m the realest, Christian Ozera is my newest book boyfriend and I want him in my bed. Ok. Christian was probably my favorite character, now that I got that out of the way, let me begin by saying how FABULOUSLY AMAZING this book was!!!
Since I began to talk about Christian, let’s get to the characters.
I really loved them all! Even the “villains.” I think they added so much good I don’t know… suspense? I’m not sure what word I’m looking for here. I think every single character was good at being what they were created to be. Some of my favorite characters were Rose, Mason, and Christian. The reason, something they have in common, is that they’re all masters of sass. I loved every inch of them.
Everything about this book was interesting, so if you see ‘interesting’ a billion times then sorry.
I really enjoyed the whole plot/back-story/world/society(??) But I like the categories and the difference between them and how they fit with each other.
Moroi– royal vampires
Dhampir– half-vampires, half-human guardians of Moroi.
Strigoi– Evil vampires.
I’m interested to see how the other 11 royal families will play a part in the later books! I’m very into this vampire hierarchy!
I definitely believe that “shadow-kissed” will show up quite frequently since it even is the title of the third book. I’m so excited. I really am.
I also am interested in seeing how Rose and Lissa’s psychic bond evolves and if it even goes away and how it’ll affect their relationship and also how they’re treated by everyone in authority since it’s so rare.
I just realized that this review is full of theories than really talking about the book. Sorry not sorry.
I loved the relationships in this book though! You can believe that I’m all over these ships. I have 2 + 1 honorary ship.
The first ship being the obvious ROMITRI because how can you not ship it. Literally how?! They’re literally perfect for each other.
My second ship is Lissa and Christian. What Rose said was true, they are really alike and they also balance each other out like a check and balance system.
THE HONORARY SHIP should probably be obvious. Me and Christian. Obviously.
I don’t know how much praise I can give this book! I LOVED IT!!!!
